On Wednesday, June 17th, we hosted an event to promote the launch of a WithIT chapter in the D.C. Metropolitan area. Women and men from all aspects of the design industry came out to show support for this new chapter – designers, store owners, sales representatives, writers and more.
“We are very excited to have a WithIt chapter in the DC area and I was equally thrilled to have the launch at Victoria at Home! We look forward to welcoming members in the coming months and watching the chapter grow,” Victoria Sanchez on the new chapter and playing hostess to the event.
The evening celebrated the female role in the home and furnishings industry - a field once dominated solely by men. WithIt members, Ruth Olbrych, owner of Antiques by Zaar, and Amanda Kerry, President of High Point Market’s Antique & Design Center, were both in attendance and provided the attendees with fundamental information about the achievements of the WithIt organization.
WithIt was founded as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the belief that women should play a major role in the growth and future of the home and furnishings industries. Now in their second decade and with over 400 members, WithIt is the best network in the home and furnishings industries existing to encourage and develop education, mentoring, and leadership opportunities for women - a critical talent pool.
WithIt’s mission is to encourage and develop leadership, mentoring, education and networking opportunities for professional women in the home and furnishings industries. They want their members to learn, grow, lead and encourage, a mantra they strive for each day. The organization’s objective is to recognize, connect and support women who have achieved top leadership. To mentor, teach and encourage those who aspire to grow their leadership, while providing the opportunity for networking and the support needed in their careers.
WithIt’s ethical values center on building relationships with their members and industries, having a responsibility to their disciplines and to the growth of their industries by affirming these core values: integrity, responsibility, fairness, respect, transparency and community.
